Hiatus

(Song 1 von 10)

Englischer Text:

Hiatus

He’s a friend I used to have
Used to smile at
Who made me laugh
He chose another he barely knew,
Told her a secret
Ripped my heart in two

Took my friendship like a piece of dirt
Pushed it away and how that hurt
Sorry friend
You tore my heart
Took my ending
And ruined my start

So here’s to you anger and all
I hope you reach the top
I hope you fall
I hope you feel just the same
All the hurt and all the pain

And when you do,
Come to me
And I will show you
What you could not see

There’s more to me
Than the mask I make
I’m much more impulsive
And my mind’s a snake
I’m much too moody
And sensitive too
But I’m not bloody boring
Not like you

Not like her who you chose over me
Not like your girlfriend
Who you want me to be
I’m not how I should be
I’m worth a lot more
You should have hurt
And your heart should have tore

Because you deserved it and I did not
You should have hurt
And your heart should have stopped
Just for a second, a fleeting beat
Should have looked at me
And fell from your feet

But life’s not as epic
Not like a book
It’s not an adventure
And the earth won’t be shook
Not by my story
And not by my pain
Cannot make the sunshine
Cannot make it rain

But I promise to you,
You’ll see it some day
That you wasted December
Thinking of May

The title is not really very descriptive of the song but Hiatus is the gap or pause between one thing and another. Maybe it means that the girl is using the gap in the relationship to think about the boy? So the girl thinks they will get back together?

1. a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.

2. a missing part; gap or lacuna:
Scholars attempted to account for the hiatus in the medieval manuscript

3. any gap or opening

4. Grammar, Prosody
The coming together, with or without break or slight pause, and without contraction, of two vowels in successive words or  syllables, as in ‘see easily’

5. Anatomy
A natural fissure, cleft, or foramen in a bone or other structure
